Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja and the NRM Vice Chairman for Central Region, Godfrey Kiwanda spent the most part of Saturday combing Kawempe North constituency for votes for the NRM ticket holder, Faridah Nambi.
Nabbanja and NRM leaders addressed three rallies in the Bwaise, Kazo-Angola, and Kyebando wards.
Prime Minister Nabbanja urged Kawempe residents to elect a member of Parliament who is allied to the government to lobby and fast-track service delivery in the area.
“The people of Kampala lack services because they vote wrongly. They vote for leaders who don’t sit in the NRM parliamentary caucus where key decisions on allocation of resources are made,” Prime Minister Nabbanja said, urging them to vote for a candidate from the ruling party.
“You will not regret it.”
Nabbanja said that the government will build a SEED secondary school and a Presidential Skilling Hub in the Kawempe North constituency to accommodate children who cannot afford private schools.
“We understand your plight, and we shall work with Faridah Nambi to address them individually,” the Prime Minister said.
The NRM flag bearer, Faridah Nambi, reiterated her willingness to tackle the challenges of the people that she has recorded during her visits throughout the constituency.
“I have seen and heard your concerns, and I pledge to cooperate with the government to address them if you vote me to parliament,” Nambi said.
The NRM director for Mobilisation, Rosemary Seninde, said the party will not relent in reaching out to the voters until Nambi is declared a winner on Thursday.
“We shall not fall prey to the tricks of the opposition who are planning to rig the election,” Seninde said.
She urged all NRM supporters to overwhelmingly turn up, vote, and guard the election because some wrong elements may steal our “victory.”
