Tax body, Uganda Revenue Authority has cleared the air on a demand notice for Seroma Limited asking them to pay shs90 billion in VAT in seven days.
The demand notice that has been making rounds on social media URA Manager in charge of debt collection, Stanley Kabbyemera reminded the Managing Director of Seroma Limited that he had asked that he pays the tax arrears in installments and allowed but that Seroma had not honored the agreement.
The notice asked Seroma to pay the shs90 billion in seven days or face enforcement from URA.
The issue has since raised dust on social media.
However, in a statement , URA said the case had been closed.
“Our attention has been drawn to a VAT liability administrative letter from about a year ago. We want to categorically inform the public that the case was pursued to its conclusion and closed,” URA said on Saturday afternoon.
