The Ugandan army, UPDF has announced the promotion of four senior commanders to new ranks.
The promotions announced on Wednesday saw Brig Stephen Mugerwa promoted to acting Major General and confirmed commander of the first infantry division headquartered at Kakiri in Wakiso district.
The promotions have also seen Brig Paul Muhanguzi promoted to Major General and confirmed commander of the UPDF second infantry division in Mbarara while Brigadier Felix Busizoori promoted to acting Maj Gen and confirmed the commander of the 4th infantry division based in Gulu
Brig Keith Katungi is also promoted to acting Major General and confirmed the commander of the fifth division in Pader.
“We congratulate the newly promoted general officers and wish them success in their assigned responsibilities,” UPDF spokesperson, Brig Felix Kulayigye said.
The new promotions are meant to streamline the ranks of the senior commanders with their offices in accordance with the UPDF Establishment of 2021.
The UPDF Establishment was launched by President Museveni early this year to usher changes in the UPDF.
For example , the Chief of Defence Forces was given more powers.
