State Minister for Foreign Affairs, John Mulimba, has commended the deepening ties between Uganda and Mozambique, expressing confidence that the relationship will grow even stronger.
Speaking at the second session of the Joint Permanent Commission (JPC) at Mestil Hotel in Kampala, Mulimba highlighted the longstanding brotherhood between the two nations, built on a shared vision for peace, stability, and regional development.
Mulimba praised the heads of state for their role in establishing the first JPC in 1987 and re-establishing it in 2018 with the signing of the Framework Agreement.
He noted that this session will further expand cooperation in key areas such as defense and security, tourism, agriculture, ICT, trade, and infrastructure development.
“Both Uganda and Mozambique have faced challenges from insecurity and terrorism, and we are committed to working together to address these threats through strengthened defense and security cooperation,” Mulimba said, adding that the countries will also focus on enhancing trade, improving food security, and advancing technology transfers.
He emphasized that the JPC serves as a model for how bilateral cooperation can drive regional integration and mutual prosperity.
