Three men have been arraigned before the Chief Magistrates Court at Buganda Road and charge related to attacking and robbing of shs700million from a Chinese national in Kampala read against them.
John Ssemanda, 18, a self employed resident of Bulenga in Wakiso district, Joram Mwebesa, 18 a resident of Ggaba in Makindye district and Ashraf Nsiko , 18, a boda bod rider and resident of Kyengera in Wakiso district were charged with aggravated robbery, contrary to section 285 and 286(2) of the Penal Code Act.
They are accused of attacking Hei Wei, a Chinese national on November, 16, 2023 while traveling on a boda boda at around 1pm at Ssezibwa road near Fang Fang restaurant when his motorcycle was intercepted by a group of boda boda riders who grabbed his bag containing $190,000 (about Shs 718 million).
They however didnt take plea since the offence is capital in nature and only triable by the High Court.
The prosecutor, Senior State Attorney, Martin Nambafu told court that investigations into the matter.
The trial grade one magistrate Siena Owomugisha adjourned the case to December 18, for mention.
