Police have tracked and arrested a man captured on video attacking a Kampala businessman with pangas.
In an incident captured on CCTV camera, Ashraf Kiiza, an employee at Bashir Grain Millers attacked Sam Turyamuhaki, a 55-year-old businessman and resident of Kabawo Zone in Lubaga division.
The attack happened at 8pm at Nateete.
On the fateful day, as Turyamuhaki who had been paid shs8 million for the supply of maize was verifying the amount paid to him, Kiiza an employee at the same mill entered the office with a sack and in a turn of event, he pulled out a panga and a hammer that he hit Tutyamuhaki as he demanded for m
“A struggle ensued, resulting in Turyamuhaki sustaining severe head injuries from the assailant’s weapons. Fortunately, with the assistance of bystanders, the attacker was subdued, allowing Turyamuhaki to receive prompt medical attention,” Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire said.
However, two days after the attack, the Police Flying Squad have tracked Kiiza, 179km away in Kyotera from where he was arrested.
“Kiiza was located in Kyotera on May 15 and is now detained at Nateete Police Station. Further investigations are ongoing, and he will be prosecuted accordingly in the courts of law,” Owoyesigyire said.
It is reported that Kyotera is Kiiza’s home town.
