Kampala businessman, Sudhir Ruparelia has renamed Lotis Towers that he recently acquired from DFCU Bank through an auction.
The building has since been renamed Arie Towers.
In a May, 2, 2024 memo to tenants, Sudhir said he had bought the building on Plot 16, Army Avenue, Nakasero, Kampala through a public auction by DFCU Bank Ltd through its auctioneers Jubilee Auctioneers .
“Therefore, all your dealings will be with the new landlord. Accordingly, please ensure that you submit all your current signed tenancy agreements with proof of payment made up-to-date in order to regularise the tenancy agreement with the new landlords,” Sudhir said.
“Furthermore, irrevocably all rent and/or any arrears should be paid to your new landlords on the following Bank account details only (No cash payment allowed).”
Another memo, dated May, 3 to the tenants is from the DFCU auctioneers of Jubilee
The building was commissioned in 2019 and was previous owned by Samuel Lotigo
However, in 2022, the building was in news after reports that its pillars had developed cracks.
The building had been constructed by Roko Uganda.
This state of affairs saw a number of tenants including the Judicial Service Commission-JSC, Cairo Bank International, British American Tobacco-BAT, and the Democratic Governance Facility.
Many of these vacated the building.
The defects have since been rectified and the building has attracted new tenants.
