Police have started investigating circumstances under which a sex worker was found dead in a lodge in Njeru, Buikwe district.
According to Hellen Butoto, the Ssezibwa police spokesperson, the incident happened on Wednesday when Racheal Naigaga, 45 was found dead in a lodge in Namwezi zone in Mbiko, Njeru Municipality in Buikwe district.
“On Tuesday, the deceased left her home leaving the husband and kids and went to Brandon bar and guesthouse in Namwezi zone to drink. At around midnight, the deceased allegedly got a client and they booked in one of the rooms,” Butoto said.
Police said the client left within the night at unknown time after locking her in the room and went with the keys.
The following morning, one of the sex workers informed the owner of the lodge to check on Naigaga’s room since she is a known drunkard.
“Meme Annet got somebody who broke the door where they found Naigaga lying dead on the bed which prompted her to report the matter to police.”
According to police, the body had no marks or signs of violence but noted that it was taken to Jinja Regional Referral hospital for postmortem as investigations continue.
