Seven assailants arrested recently over their involvement in a violent robbery along Ben Kiwanuka Street in Kampala have been remanded to Luzira.
The seven were part of the gang that was captured on CCTV camera robbing a man of his bag after hitting him with a kick on the head.
On Friday afternoon, Sharif Tagaba, alia Musoga, 19, Nuru Rweyomam alias MV.TZ, 14, Eric Mukisa alias Musota, 17, Mohammed Kabuye alis Abiriga, 21, Peter Ssenyonjo alias Kakima,14, Victor Arinda, 22 and Joram Kabito alias Julius were on Friday afternoon arraigned before Buganda Road Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayizzi and charges related to aggravated robbery contrary to section 285 and 286(2) of the Penal Code Act read against them.
It was alleged that the group with others still at large on May, 22, 2024 at Ben Kiwanuka Street robbed Tomson Bainomugisha of his black bag containing shs450,000.
They are also accused of allegedly robbing him of an Itel feature phone, green contain, smearing oil, academic documents and other assorted items valued at shs2 million from the victim on top of injuring him.
The group was however not allowed to either deny or accept the charges since they are capital in nature and can only be tried by the High Court.
They were remanded to Luzira until June, 18.
