A private security guard has shot two suspected robbers dead for attempting to jump over the fence of premises he was guarding.
The incident according to Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire happened on Tuesday morning at around midnight when Bosco Oringo, 27 a private security guard working with Daron Security Company and employed by Inken Distributors Limited, shot and killed Patrick Okema, 34 and Dennis Sekiriwo.
“According to preliminary investigations, Oringo Bosco, on duty at Betimo Inken offices along old Kira road, claimed to have encountered three intruders around midnight. He asserted that, while on the wall fence, he observed two individuals attempting to break into the office. Allegedly, one of the intruders was armed, prompting Oringo to open fire in self-defense, resulting in the unfortunate demise of two,” Owoyesigyire said.
He said the crime scene has been meticulously examined by a team comprising homicide, Scene of Crime Officer), crime intelligence, and uniformed officers and a comprehensive case file has been initiated to facilitate a thorough investigation.
“Various exhibits have been recovered, including a well-sharpened iron bar capable of breaking doors, the weapon used in the shooting, an ax saw blade head, and identification cards belonging to the deceased individuals.”
Owoyesigyire said fingerprints were lifted from the damaged door, and the bodies have been conveyed to the City mortuary pending postmortem examinations.
“The matter remains under active investigation, and updates will be communicated. The police emphasize their commitment to a transparent and thorough inquiry into this incident.”
