Record Uganda Premier League champions, SC Villa on Saturday lifted the league trophy for the first time in 20 years.
Going into the last game, the Jogoos led the pack on 54 points, with BUL , Vipers and Kitara following with 53 and 51 points respectively.
Each of these only wanted a win.
However, SC Villa wasted no chances, beating NEC at home, two nil to ensure any other results meant nothing to their title chase.
A Charles Lwanga goal in the 67th minute and Hakim Kiwanuka’s in the 75th minute were enough to seal the title for the Jogoos to throw their fans into frenzy at at the Phillip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.
The win meant SC Villa lifted their 17th title after 20 years of waiting.
Last season, the record champions stumbled on the last day of the game to ensure Vipers won the trophy.
SC Villa will now represent Uganda in the CAF Champions League for the first time in two decades.
