In a grand and solemn ceremony held at Nebbi Cathedral, Rt. Rev. Dr. Constantine Rupiny has been consecrated and installed as the fifth Bishop of Nebbi Catholic Diocese.
The historic event was marked by deep spiritual significance and attended by distinguished religious and political leaders.
The principal consecrator, Archbishop Raphael P’mony Wokorach, presented Rt. Rev. Dr. Rupiny with the instruments of service, which included the Holy Bible, the Mitre, the shepherd’s staff, and the shepherd’s ring.
These sacred symbols affirm his spiritual authority and commitment to leading the faithful of Nebbi Diocese.
The Holy Mass was led by Archbishop Raphael P’mony Wokorach helped by Rt. Rev. Luigi Bianco, Uganda’s Apostolic Nuncio, who played a pivotal role in the proceedings.
Among the esteemed guests in attendance were the Vice President of Uganda, Rt. Major Jessica Alupo, and the State Minister for Minerals, Phiona Nyamutoro.
A key moment of the ceremony occurred at exactly 11:55 AM when the Apostolic Nuncio, Rt. Rev. Luigi Bianco, read the decree from Pope Francis, officially confirming Rt. Rev. Dr. Constantine Rupiny as the new Bishop of Nebbi Catholic Diocese.
This declaration was met with resounding applause and jubilation from the congregation.
Following the decree, the newly consecrated bishop received the solemn laying of hands by his fellow bishops, a powerful gesture symbolizing apostolic succession and continuity of the Church’s mission. This act reinforced the deep spiritual lineage that connects the new bishop to the broader Catholic hierarchy.
During the offertory procession, Vice President Jessica Alupo and Minister Phiona Nyamutoro actively participated, demonstrating their solidarity with the Church and its leadership.
