A 310km walk has been flagged off by the Rotary Club of Akright City in Wakiso district to raise funds for disabled children at Ishekye Primary School in Sheema district.
The walk was flagged off by Kenneth Mugisha, 47, the former governor of Rotary district 9211, which covers Uganda and Tanzania
Syhaka Mbanda will be taking the 14 -day walk to Sheema.
Speaking during the flag off, the former governor of the Rotary district 9211 said applauded Rotary Club of Akright City for the initiative.
“This project looking at less fortunate children is a good cause. As Rotarians, we have come together to take care of the disadvantaged children to ensure they get a decent life. When we let these children down, indeed we will have let ourselves down,” Mugisha said, calling upon other wellwishers to join the noble cause.

“We hope by raising shs50 million, we shall impact the school to create transformation. We want to work on the school compound and walkways to create a safe environment for children with disability at the school. These don’t have a safe accident and this means they are bound to have accidents. We are therefore coming in solve this problem,” Habomugisha said.
Ishekye Unit Primary School is an inclusive educational institution founded by the Church of Uganda. It caters to both pupils with special needs and ordinary pupils. The school is government-aided and currently has a total of 171 pupils.
