A recruit in the ongoing recruitment driver by the UPDF in Dokolo district has collapsed due to the rigorous fitness exercises.
Levi Okwir, a resident of Okwongodul B Village, Okwongodul Parish in Dokolo county and Dokolo district collapsed on Tuesday morning at Dokolo Technical Institute after running less than a kilometre of the four kilometres.
According to Capt Hassan Kato Ahmad, the spokesperson of the UPDF fourth infantry division, Okwir was later evacuated by the team ambulance for first aid.
Quoting Captain Doctor Alex Kissa the team six medical officer, Capt Kato said, the candidate’s blood pressure had dropped below the normal but he was resuscitated in time.
“After gaining his stability and recovery, Okwir stated that he did not take enough water and he did not eat supper nor breakfast before coming for the exercise. He is now out of danger pending further medical examinations,” Capt Kato said.
He explained that on Tuesday, the team will recruit candidates from Amolatar and Dokolo and will turn to candidates from Kaberamaido and Kalaki districts tomorrow.
“The two-day exercise will recruit 39 shortlisted candidates from Dokolo district and 30 candidates from Amolatar. We registered eight absentee candidates from Dokolo and five from Amolatar district.”
He added that between July, 10 and 14, the team will vet and recruit 25 candidates from Kaberamaido, 26 from Kalaki, 42 from Apac, 39 from Kwania, 83 from Oyam and 52 from Kole district as per the quotas allotted to each districts based on the recent census statistics.
The spokesperson said they have so far arrested four recruits with fake UCE result slips from Dokolo and three from Amolatar district and have since been handed over to their respective DISOs for management.
“We appeal to candidates to prepare thoroughly before coming for the recruitment exercise.”
