Police have washed its hand clean of their former commander who has been reported to have turned into a woman in Australia.
Assistant Superintendent of Police, Samuel Ebwang, the former DPC for Koboko fled Uganda to Canada and it was said he used the homosexuality card to flee the country after alleging that he was being targeted.
Over the weekend, it was reported that he had turned into a woman in Australia where he currently lives.
Asked to comment about the matter, Police spokesperson, Kituuma Rusoke said Ebwang is a deserter.
“He deserted because he didn’t submit his resignation letter. He therefore didn’t apply to get out of the Police force. He is therefore a deserter,” Rusoke said.
The police spokesperson declined to be drawn into claims that the former police commander turned himself into a woman.
“There is a s photo and wording attached to it. Either converted himself or someone converted him into a woman. I might say he converted into a woman and tomorrow he says it is not true. There are allegations When he was last here, he was a male. Until when we arrest him on allegations of desertion, we will then know whether he is a man or woman,”Rusoke said.
Of late, a number of Ugandans have asked for asylum abroad, especially in the US and Europe claiming to be persecuted for being a homosexual.
