Uganda Police has kicked off an exercise that will see the force recruit 2500 probation constables.
The police Human Resource Director, AIGP Brig Jesse Kamunanwire in a Tuesday advert said they will be receiving applications starting February, 7 until 18 , 2024 .
Only Ugandans aged between 18 and 23 will be allowed.
“The applicant must be a Ugandan citizen with a valid National ID and must have no criminal record. The applicant should be ready to undertake the requisite 12 months police basic training and should be physically and medically fit,” the advert says.
Police says applicants should be ready to work for long hours and at times under difficult conditions and in any part of the country but should also possess good communication skills.
According to the advert, applicants must also not be a former or serving officer in any of the forces but must also possess a senior four certificate or its equivalent with at least four credits including English and at least a pass in Mathematics.
“Hand written applications addressed to the IGP, accompanied by certified copies of academic documents, photocopy of the National Identity card, three recent passport size photographs, identity card or introductory letter from the previous school and recommendation letters from LCI, LCIII and RDC in file folder should be delivered to the Police district or divisional headquarters not later than February, 18, 2024.”
Police warns that impersonation or presentation of forged documents by applicants shall lead to arrest and prosecution in courts of law.
“Applicants who conceal or provide false information shall be disqualified. Female candidates are encouraged to apply. Appointment into the Uganda Police Force shall be after completion of the 12 months police basic training,” the advert says.
