Police have provided alternative routes for motorists after a section of the Kampala-Masaka road caved in at Kyengera on Sunday.
The road section caved in following a heavy downpour on Sunday, paralysing traffic flow on the busy highway.
However, Traffic Police spokesperson, Michael Kananura said there are alternative routes that motorists can use as works continue on the road.
“Motorists are advised to use alternative routes like Nakawuka road- Buddo junction or Kitemu and Mityana road Buloba to Nsangi to access the Masaka highway,” Kananura said.
He said since traffic has now been cut off at the junction to Buddo and Kyengera, motorists can also use Ktende-Nakawuka- turn left and go up to Kasenge to Nateete or Katende- Nakawuka then turn right to Kisubi and continue with Entebbe road up to the city centre.
Another alternative route provided by police is for motorists coming from Masaka side diverting off at Katende- Mabuye-Bujuuko then continue with Mityana road up to Kampala
Police urged members of the public to use these routes as Uganda National Roads Authority( UNRA) continues to work on the section of Masaka highway that caved in.
“We appeal to the public to exercise discipline and patience and follow directives of traffic personnel on the ground.”
