A section of NRM youth league members led by their Chairman Hajji Gaddafi Nassur have donated over 100 iron sheets to the vendors of Balikyejjusa roadside market in Luwero district to roof their new market that is under construction.
This social responsibility contribution was carried out by the youth to mark the belated NRM/A’s 38th liberation day and UPDF’s 43rd Tarehe-Sita anniversary celebrations, in remembrance of the contributions of the people of Luwero in liberating Uganda.
In his speech to the vendors, Hajj Gaddafi, who is also a member of the party’s Top Organ, the Central Executive Committee (CEC) said the NRM government vividly remembers and acknowledges the sacrifices of the people of Luwero during the bush war 1980s.
He therefore urged that they should not be swayed away by the opposition who have nothing to offer. “You made a very big sacrifice and it is your time to enjoy the fruits of the struggle through embracing empowerment programs from the government like Parish Development Model (PDM) and forming SACCOs to benefit from microfinance support,” Gaddafi said.
He committed to continue lobbying for resources and support from the government, the NRM party and other agencies so as to improve their livelihoods.
Gaddafi also called upon the youth to search for networks saying that it is through these links that they will be modelled into good leaders who can take up political responsibilities.
He also challenged them to participate in sports activities so as to keep their bodies and minds in shape and in good health.
The function was also attended by NRM Luwero district Chairman Mr. Ronald Ndawula, members of the Luweero NRM district Executive committee and Balikyejusa market leadership among others.
