The movers of the motion seeking to censor the four embattled commissioners of Parliament on Monday handed in their 189 collected signatures to the clerk to parliament Adolf Mwesigye.
“We have done our part, and now it’s up to the Clerk to inform the Speaker within 24 hours as required by the rules of procedure. We are ready to leave no stone unturned in cleansing corruption out of Parliament,” Theodore Ssekikubo said on Monday.
The group also asked the Clerk to transmit the signatures to the Speaker in accordance with rule 110(5) of the Parliamentary rules of procedure.
They insisted they will not relent until corruption is stamped out of parliament.
The censure motion seeks to remove four legislators accused of irregularly receiving Shs1.7 billion in service awards amid corruption allegations.
Those being targeted by the censure motion include Mathias Mpuuga, who received Shs500 million , Esther Afoyochan, Solomon Silwanyi, and Prossy Akampurira,
The champions of the censure motion include Theodore Ssekikubo (Lwemiyaga), Joseph Ssewungu (Kalungu West), Sarah Opendi (Tororo Woman MP), Aringa South MP Arion Odria, and Kalungu East’s Francis Katabzi.
