Police have recovered the body of a nine-year-old girl who drowned in a water channel near her school in Kabuuma, Wakiso District.
The deceased, identified as Shanitah Nanyonga, tragically slipped and fell into the water while crossing the channel.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango, Nanyonga had been escorted to school by her aunt but later returned home to pick up a forgotten pen.
Unfortunately, while attempting to cross the water channel, she lost her footing and was swept away.
