President Museveni, who is also the commander in chief of the armed forces has made several changes in the leadership of the UPDF.
The changes announced on Thursday saw former CMI chief, Brig Charles Bakahumura sent to Turkey as Uganda’s military attache whereas Brig Mathew Gureme is now Uganda’s defence liaison officer in Tanzania.
In the changes, former UPDF spokesperson, Brig Richard Karemire has been appointed as the new chief of education, sports and culture in the UPDF whereas Maj Gen Moses Rwakitarate is the new commandant for vital assets.
Others are Brig Gaetan Omolla who has bounced back as the commandant of the Uganda Rapid Deployment Capability Centre in Jinja, a place he has previously served in before he was sent to Somalia in December 2022 as the 19th UPDF contingent commander.
The changes have seen Brig Gen Ham Atwooki Kaija appointed as the Chief Staff Officer for Operation Wealth Creation.
