President Museveni has in accordance to powers given to him as the commander in chief othe armed forces promoted five Senior Commissioners of Police to the rank of Assistant Inspector General Police.
Police spokesperson, Kituuma Rusoke said on Monday that Museveni had promoted James Apora who is the director of logistics and engineering, Lawrence Nuwabiine(director traffic police), Joseph Obwona( Interpol and international relations), Steven Tanui( Fire and rescue services) and Geoffrey Musana to the rank of AIGP.
Apora has for over a year been serving as the acting director for logistics while Nuwabiine has for over three years been serving as acting traffic police director while Obwona and Tanui have alos been serving as Interpol and Fire and Rescue services directors respectively since the retirement of the substantive directors.
According to Rusoke, following promotion to AIGP, President Museveni has also appointed the four as substantive directors in their respective directorates.
The president has also appointed AIGP Geoffrey Musana as the deputy director in charge of logistics and engineering.
Police directors are supposed to be at the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police
