“I congratulate the Uganda Cranes on qualifying for AFCON. Uganda has qualified for the third time in the last eight years of the biennial competition,” Museveni said.
He highlighted the government’s commitment to improving sports infrastructure in the country, noting that significant resources have already been allocated towards the construction and rehabilitation of sports facilities, with more investments expected in the future.
“The government has already committed a lot of resources to construct and rehabilitate the sports infrastructure, and we will continue to do so.”
Uganda qualified for AFCON 2025 in Morocco with two games to spare without kicking a ball after South Sudan beat Congo Brazzaville 3-2 in Juba a week ago.
Uganda has since gone on to record a second away win during the qualifiers to ensure they finished the qualifiers on 13 points, one behind group K leaders South Africa, who beat South Sudan 3-0 in Cape Town in the final game of the group on Tuesday.
