President Yoweri Museveni has appointed Dr. Kedrace Turyagyenda as the new Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Education and Sports.
Dr. Turyagyenda replaces Ketty Lamaro, who was dropped last month.
The Minister for Education and Sports, Janet Museveni announced the appointment.
“I congratulate Dr. Kedrace Turyagyenda on her appointment as the new Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Education,” Janet Museveni stated.
She also commended the under secretary, Dr. Jane Egau Okou who has been serving in the acting capacity of the position since Lamaro’s departure.
The minister acknowledged the ministry’s achievements despite recent challenges, including the Red-Eye outbreak and cases of monkeypox.
She also praised the country’s sports victories and highlighted the upcoming reception for medalists by the President at the Teryet National High Altitude Training Centre.
Janet Museveni further expressed optimism about the progress in AFCON preparations, the ongoing Sports Bill amendments, and reforms within the sports sector.
About Dr.Turyagyenda
An educationist, she has previously served as the Director of Education Standards in the Ministry of Education and Sports.
Prior to that, she served as the Commissioner for Secondary Education Standards in the same ministry. She is a member of several governance bodies of education institutions.
She has published a number of education research, and presented a number of papers in international conferences.
She holds a Doctorate in Education Management from Nkumba University Uganda; a Master of Science Degree from Leicester University in UK; a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Diploma in Education from Makerere University, Uganda.
