President Museveni has appointed Maj Gen Abel Kandiho as his a senior presidential advisor in charge of classified operations.
The appointment was announced on Friday.
Gen Kandiho was in May recalled from police where he had served as the Chief of Joint Staff for two years and appointed him a special presidential advisor.
The latest development will put Kandiho in charge of critical security operations in the country.
Maj Gen Kandiho previously between 2017 and 2022 served as the chief of the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence( CMI) which has since metamorphosed into the Directorate of Intelligence and Security as the intelligence arm of the UPDF.
He is credited to have led operations against ADF terror cells in the country, especially, following the November 2021 bombings in Kampala that left scores dead and other injured.
The attack was blamed on ADF.
