President Museveni has in exercise of powers under Article 142 (1) and (2) of the
Constitution, appointed Principal Judge, Dr. Flavian Nzeija as the new deputy Chief Justice
In the appointments announced on Thursday evening, the president also appointed one Justice of the Supreme Court, and eight Justices of the Court of Appeal on the advice of the Judicial Service Commission.
In addition, the President has also appointed 21 Judges of the High Court in acting capacity into the Judiciary Service for a period of two years from the date of assumption of duty.
In the same vein, following the conclusion of disciplinary proceedings against her, Lady Justice Bukirwa Faridah Shamilah has been re-appointed as acting Judge of the High Court for a period of one year.
The appointments have seen Justice Muzamil Kibeedi has been appointed to the Supreme Court while justices Ketra Kitariisibwa Katunguka, Sabiiti Cornelia Kakooza, Stella Alibateese, Florence Nakachwa, Jesse Byaruhanga, John Mike Musisi , Musa Ssekaana and Esta Nambayo have been appointed to the Court of Appeal.
The president has also appointed Sarah Langa, Rosemary Bareebe Ngabirano, Mary Babirye, Lilian Omara, Charles Kasibayo, Mary Kaitesi, Susan Odongo, Karooli Lwanga Ssemogerere, Joanita Gertrude Bushara, Simon Peter Kinobe and Vincent Opyene as acting judges for two years.
Others are Sarah Birungi Kalibbala, Isaac Teko Bony, Deepa Verma, Flavia Grace Lamuno, Fatuma Nanziri Bwanika, Kwemara Kafuuzi Gelase, Godfrey Himbaza, Andrew Khauka, Dr.Ginamia Melody Ngwatu and Ida Nakiganda,
