The Anti Corruption Court has issued criminal summons against the Minister for Karamoja, Mary Goretti Kitutu to answer charges related to causing financial loss to government.
The development followed the amendment of the charge sheet in which seven officials from the Office of the Prime Minister are accused of causing a financial loss of shs1.5 billion.
Consequently, five of the seen accused were dropped from the charge sheet to remain with Geoffrey Sseremba, an accounting officer and Deogratius Masagazi, an under secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister who are jointly charged with Kitutu.
The state has also charged Tracy Atuhirwe, an accountant in the Office of the Prime Minister.
The quartet is accused of causing government a financial loss of up to shs1.5 billion.
On Wednesday, Masagazi and Sseremba were charged afresh whereas Minister Kitutu and Tracy Atuhirwe were not present in court.
The two OPM officials denied the charges and the trial magistrate, Christopher Opit adjourned the matter until February, 29, 2024.
The magistrate issued criminal summons against Kitutu and Atuhirwe to appear on the same date.
