Police have said that the man killed in the Wednesday morning accident in which a concrete mixer truck crushed a car at the traffic lights in Nkumba was a Kampala lawyer.
In the accident that happened on Wednesday morning, a concrete mixer, registration number, UAN 836B crashed a Mitsubishi RVR UBQ 371P
“A preliminary report shows that the three said vehicles were in the same direction facing Entebbe from Kampala and while at Nkumba traffic lights waiting to be released by the lights, motor vehicle UAN 836B a concrete mixer from behind lost control and failed to brake, as the driver tried to dodge the vehicles in front of him hit a pavement on the side of the road and overturned falling onto motor vehicle UBQ 371P killing instantly it’s driver,” traffic police spokesperson, Michael Kananura said.
He identified the deceased as Raphael Okoit,34, a lawyer working with MALDEF Advocates and a resident of Seeta.
It has also been reported that the deceased was a husband to Kyenjojo Grade I Magistrate, Faith Irene Kwagala.
Police said the deceased’s body has been taken to Mulago City mortuary for postmortem while the vehicles have been towed to Entebbe CPS pending inspection.
Meanwhile, the driver of the concrete mixer has been arrested to help in investigations.
