A man has been sentenced to three years imprisonment for sharing fake Primary Leaving Examination papers on WhatsApp.
According to UNEB spokesperson, Jenifer Kalule, the received a report from a whistleblower who had been added onto a WhatsApp group, code named national preparation for cheating UNEB exams.
The whistleblower reported the matter to police in Tororo that swung into action arresting Moses Ejagu and Denis Jjuuko from St. Mary’s Junior School, Kapeeka in Nakaseke district.
“Police established that Ejagu Moses, while applying for a job at the school, had given false information to the effect that he was a UNEB examiner. He accordingly formed 15 WhatsApp groups which he administered for purposes of sharing alleged UNEB examination papers including what he claimed to be the forth coming PLE examination papers,”Kalule said.
She noted that by the time the two suspects were arrested, they were in possession of pseudo examination papers for PLE.
Consequently, Ejagu pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 36 months in Prison by the Chief Magistrate in Tororo, where the offence was made.
His co-accused, who pleaded not guilty was remanded until October,30, 2024.
