Lujja Tabula, the man suspected of orchestrating the murder of Ndiga clan head, Dr.Dab Bbosa has recorded an extrajudicial statement.
An extra-judicial statement is made by a suspect before a magistrate to narrate his/her role in the commission of an alleged crime.
In most cases, the suspect confesses to committing the crime or participating in its commission.
On Friday afternoon, Tabula was brought under tight security by operatives from the Crime Intelligence Directorate and presented before Buganda Road Chief Magistrates Court .
He spent more than an hour before the chief magistrate where he recorded the extrajudicial statement.
However, the media was not allowed in the magistrate’s chamber as the suspect made the statement.
He was later driven back to police cells from where he is expected to be presented before court and charged formally.
Tabula was arrested on Monday by operatives from Crime Intelligence after playing a ping-pong game with security for six months since the February, 25 shooting in Lungujja, a Kampala suburb.
He will be added onto the other five suspects including Noah Lujja , 21 accused of pulling the trigger, Harriet Nakiguli, 40, Joseph Nakabale, 47, Ezra Mayanja and Milly Naluwenda, 46, a Buganda traditional court clerk who are currently on remand.
Their arrest followed the gruesome murder of Eng. Bbosa as he returned home on the evening of February 25.
Locals would later give a chase to the shooters who were travelling on a motorcycle , killing one of them on the spot, while Noah Lujja sustained injuries and was arrested.
Following the arrest, Tabula fled his home and hid in a number of places including islands in Mukono district, Mpigi and Kiwenda, from where he was arrested on Monday.
On Wednesday, state prosecutors told Mengo magistrates court that investigations into the cases are complete after the arrest of the prime suspect, noting that the file is ready to be committed to the High Court for trial of the suspects to begin.
