King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV of Tooro Kingdom has appointed Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire Akiiki as the new Prime Minister.
Rwomiire replacesStephen Kiyingi Amooti, who has served for two years and five months.
The announcement was made on Friday during the opening session of the Kingdom Supreme Council (Orukurato) at the Muchwa Kingdom headquarters in Fort Portal City.
Rwomiire is a highly accomplished legal and policy expert, holding a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree and a Master’s in Refugee and International Studies.
His background in governance, law, and diplomacy positions him well to oversee the kingdom’s administrative and development agenda.
Before his promotion, Rwomiire served as Deputy Prime Minister in charge of investment and planning, a role he assumed in September 2024.
During his tenure, he spearheaded key initiatives to attract investment into the kingdom, strengthen economic policies, and enhance strategic planning for Tooro’s future growth.
To strengthen the kingdom’s leadership, King Oyo has appointed three new Deputy Prime Ministers to support Rwomiire in his duties; Harriet Nyakake, William Kwemara Ngabu, and Henry Basaliza.
