Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) officials on Wednesday paid tribute to the late Holy Father, Pope Francis, who passed away on Easter Monday.
Led by KCCA Executive Director Hajjati Sharifah Buzeki, the delegation visited Lubaga Cathedral to express their condolences to the Catholic community.
Buzeki was accompanied by her deputy, Benon Kigenyi, and the Lord Mayor of Kampala, Erias Lukwago. The team signed the condolence book placed at the cathedral for mourners to honor the Pope’s legacy.
Describing Pope Francis as a unifying figure, Hajjati Buzeki praised his unwavering dedication to championing love, dignity, and human solidarity.
“He united people from all walks of lives constantly reminding us of the importance of love and dignity for every individual,” she said.
She further highlighted the Pope’s global influence, noting how his message of peace, compassion, and inclusivity transcended borders and beliefs.
Hajjati Buzeki also emphasized the Pope’s tireless advocacy for the vulnerable.
“The Pope’s advocacy for refugees and the oppressed remains a guiding light in a world grappling with division and inequality,” she said.
As the Catholic faithful and the world at large mourn his passing, Buzeki urged reflection on the life and legacy of Pope Francis.
“As we mourn a role model’s demise, we should reflect on profound teaching and examples he set throughout his papacy.”
