National Unity Platform(NUP) leaders from Kamuli district have denounced the former party deputy secretary for mobilization in charge of Eastern Uganda, Moses Bigirwa.
The leaders during a meeting held at Tigs Hote in Kamuli town said Bigirwa has been on a mission to tarnish the party’s name for his own selfish interests.
“He is no longer our members. I want to announce and inform all NUP members in Busoga that as party leaders in Kamuli, we denounce Bigirwa and whoever associates with his does so on his own behalf,” said the Kamuli district NUP chairperson, Faizal Kibengo.
They asked that Bigiriwa will never be allowed to speak or say anything on behalf of the opposition political party and at any public gathering.
“He has been seen working with NRM officials is a bid to solicit money from them under the pretext of being a NUP member. We want to make it public that he is no longer a NUP member.”
They also accused Bigirwa of double standards when he sought to work with a lady who wanted to sabotage the just concluded Busoga royal wedding.
The development comes a few months after National Unity Platform president, Robert Kyagulanyi sacked Bigirwa from the position of the deputy party secretary for mobilization in charge of Eastern Uganda.
According to NUP, the sacking followed complaints relating to indiscipline and conflicts amongst the party leaders, especially from Busoga region.
“This followed complaints of indiscipline and persistent conflicts against and amongst some of our leaders,” NUP said in a brief post on social media.
