Don Nasser, real name Nasser Nduhukire , a prominent figure in Kampala’s social scene known for his lavish lifestyle and love for luxury cars, has been remanded on charges of child trafficking and defilement.
Nasser, who often parades high-end vehicles like Rolls-Royces, Bentleys, and Lamborghinis, was presented before the Buganda Road Chief Magistrates Court and two charges of aggravated trafficking of and defilement read against him.
Prosecution told court that between May 23 and 27 , 2024 between Acacia Avenue, Tagore Apartments along Mawanda Road in Kampala and Kito zone in Kira Municipality by means of fraud or the abuse of power or of a position of vulnerability recruited or received or transported or haboured a 16 year old girl for purposes of sexual exploitation.
The state also accuses the socialite of defiling the 16-year-old girl.
He denied the charges.
During the proceedings on Monday, Promise Ateete, 19 with whom Don Naser is accused also appeared in court for mention of the case since he had already been charged and released on bail.
However, the trial magistrate canceled the bail and remanded him together with the socialite until, October, 8 when they will reappear to court.
Known for frequently changing his collection of expensive cars and living a flamboyant life, Don Nasser’s arrest has shocked Kampala’s elite circles.
The charges against him and his co-accused which include aggravated human trafficking, are capital offenses that will be tried in the High Court.
