A false alarm on Monday afternoon of a plane crash sparked a massive police operation at Nateete, a Kampala suburb, only to realise it was a dummy.
According to police, an unknown person called the national command centre at Naguru informing them of a plane that had crashed on top of an unfished building in Nateete.
The case was registered as Sd ref 53/12/02/2024
Consequently, the Nateete Divisional Police Commander was dispatched together with other teams of officers including from traffic police and scenes of crime officers to the school.
“At school we found pupils in class with no any cause of alarm. The plane dummy at the main gate of the school could be noticed. We observed that this was the cause of the false alarm made by yet to be identified caller,” a police report says.
It was found out that the said plane was a dummy at Disney Junior School in Nateete Central belonging to Kampala businessman, Ssalongo Micheal Kasawuli Mukasa, the proprietor and chief executive officer of Samona products Ltd.
“We thank Ugandans for their vigilance, but a person who called in today at Natete Police, panicking that a plane has crash landed on a building in Natete, alimbyemu,” Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire said.
