A thief has 40 days, or so it is said and the same happened to self-confessed former leader of Kifeesi, a criminal gang in Kampala, Paddy Sserunjonji aka Sobi who was killed on Monday.
According to the Katonga region police spokesperson, Superintendent of Police, Majod Karim, Sobi was killed during a land eviction in Gomba in an incident that happened at around midday at Kibaale village, Kigumba parish, Maddu subcounty in Gomba district.
“Preliminary findings indicate that at around 12:30pm at the land belonging to one Kalisa of the same area, Gomba district, a group of around 50 people armed with sticks,pangas, spears attacked another group of people who claimed the same land belongs to them and ended up killing one person,” Majid said in the statement.
He said the land in question was bought by Kalisa, at 100 million and deposited shs 20million in 2007 but since then, it has been said that he bought from a wrong person.
Meanwhile, another group of people who claimed to be children and grandchildren of one Paul Kibi presented land titles claiming the land belongs to them and this state of affairs saw the issue go up to court.
The death
On Monday, a gang was brought from Kisenyi, in Kampala to stay on the same land and they started clearing it.
It is said Sobi was part of the gang hired from Kampala to go to evict the occupants of the land and a clash erupted.
During the fight between the two groups over the land, Sobi who was leading one of the gangs was beaten and cut to death.
His dead body was found with cuts on the legs and neck .
“The body of the deceased was conveyed to Gomba Hospital Mortuary for postmortem,” the area police spokesperson said.
So far three people have been confirmed injured and they include Katumba Gerald, Mateka Andrew, and Aliyu Dela.”
Sobi rose to fame in 2017 when he confessed to be the leader of Kifeesi, a criminal gang that terrorized Kampala.
