“Its alleged that Dr Drilaba together with his lawyer and his surveyors and with his casual workers went to open his boundaries of newly acquired land of 80 acres in Oyeku village. He had bought the land two months ago,” Asea said.
He said that as the team opened boundaries of the land, a girl came and asked who they are and in no minute, she started making an alarm which attracted a number of villagers estimated to be 50 in number.
“A group of more than 50 people armed with pangs, axe, bows and arrows attacked them, cutting Dr. Drilaba and a surveyor.’
It is also said that the lawyer and casual workers escaped through nearby bushes.
However, the district health officer was cut with a sharp object on the cheek and ear, which saw him lose a lot of blood and consequently succumbed to the injuries at the scene.
The surveyor however escaped with injuries.
The deceased district health officer’s body has since been taken to Arua regional referral hospital for postmortem as investigations begin.
