Henry Kiyimba Ssuubi, the Makerere University student whose photo trended on social media in 2019 when he arrived at the university hall carrying a metallic suitcase has landed himself a job at Uganda Baati.
On Friday, the country’s leading building material manufacturer and supplier announced it had recruited Ssuubi who last year graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
“From the ‘metallic Suitcase Student’ to earning a first-class degree in Mechanical Engineering, Henry Suubi Kiyimba is now part of the Uganda Baati family! We are excited to have him join us, and look forward to the valuable contributions he will make to the team. Welcome onboard,” the company posted on its X handle.
A number of commentators on social media have joined in congratulating Ssuubi upon landing a prestigious job with Uganda Baati.
Ssuubi , a Luganda word for hope was initially destined to do education at Makerere University but later changed to mechanical engineering that he passed with flying colours.
He has since proved naysayers wrong.
