The Inspector General of Police, Abbas Byakagaba has made his first major changes in the police leadership.
Byakagaba, who was appointed IGP, in May in the Sunday transfers, dropped Kampala Metropolitan Police commander, senior commissioner of police Stephen Tanui whom he sent to the fire and rescue directorate as the deputy director.
Tanui was replaced with Richard Echega as the new Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander while Assistant Commissioner of Police, Gerard Twishime has been appointed as the. deputy Kampala Metropolitan police commander .
The changes have seen Senior Superintendent of Police, Rogers Sseguya appointed the new Regional Police Commander for Kampala Metropolitan East while Moses Nanoka has been appointed the new Regional Police Commander for Kampala Metropolitan North.
Former commandant of the Police Training School, Kabalye in Masindi district, Abubaker Ziwedde has been appointed as the commissioner in charge of the police curriculum while Commissioner of Police Denis Namuwoza is now the commissioner in charge of fire arms while Christine Nanding is the commandant for the Professional Standards Unit .
The changes are expected to take immediate effect.
