Former Uganda Revenue Authority Commissioner General, Doris Akol has been appointed as a senior economist at the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Akol’s appointment was announced by the League of East African Directors (LEAD), to which she is a member.
“LEAD congratulates its member Doris Akol on her appointment as a senior economist International Monitory Fund, Fiscal Department.”
Akol has been serving as a technical assistance advisor at IMF since 2021 ,shortly after leaving the tax body.
Akol led URA between 2014 and 2020 when she was replaced by John Musinguzi Rujoki.
She is hailed for having helped grow URA from shs8 billion in the financial year 2013/14 to shs14 billion in 2017/18.
Akol who holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from Makerere University and a postgraduate Diploma in law practice from the Law Development Centre is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA).
She also has a master’s degree in law from the McGill University in Canada.
