Former NSSF Managing Director, Richard Byarugaba is among those who have been shortlisted for the Kampala Capital City Executive Director job.
Having served as NSSF Managing Director for 12 years, Byarugaba was in 2022 booted out of the fund when his contract was not renewed by the Minister for Gender, Betty Amongi.
Byarugaba would later run to court to overturn this decision by his efforts proved futile.
He is now seeking to use his experience and expertise accumulated for over a decade to the top KCCA job.
Also shortlisted for the job is former, Vision Group CEO, Robert Kabushenga.
According to the shortlist, a total of 40 people are lined up for the job to replace Dorothy Kisaka who was sacked by President Museveni after being implicated by the IGG investigations for negligence leading to the death of over 30 people following Kiteezi landfill collapse.
Kabushenga who also previously served as the Uganda Medica Centre boss shares the list with Frank Rusa, the current acting Executive Director at KCCA , together with Sydney Asubo, the former head of the Financial Intelligence Authority.
Others are Herbert Mutegeki, Fred Byamugisha, Isaac Mugume, Robert Karuhanga and former Ex UNRA Legal Boss, Marvin Baryaruha.
President Museveni recently directed the Public Service Commission to advert the Executive Director and deputy Executive Director jobs at KCCA following the sacking of Kisaka and Eng. David Luyimbazi over negligence leading to the collapse of Kiteezi landfill under their close watch, leading to death of 34 people and leaving many others injured.
The duo has since been arrested and arraigned before court where they are battling charges related to manslaughter and negligence among others.
They are currently on remand at Luzira prison.
