Ugandan music sensations Vinka and Fik Fameica have been confirmed as the headline performers for the Makerere University Business School (MUBS) Cultural Gala, organizers have announced.
Sponsored by Coca Cola, the cultural gala running under the theme, “Rooted in Tradition and Growing Towards Sustainability” is scheduled for April 4, at MUBS.
Speaking at the launch, Macklean Kukundakwe, the Country Lead for Trade and Marketing at Coca-Cola, emphasized the company’s commitment to celebrating cultural diversity and creativity through entertainment.
“Coca-Cola is thrilled to be part of this year’s MUBS Cultural Gala, a platform that truly embodies the richness and diversity of Uganda’s heritage. Culture, music, and entertainment are at the heart of how young people express themselves, and this gala is the perfect avenue to bring that to life,” she said.
Kukundakwe further highlighted Coca-Cola’s dedication to empowering the next generation by investing in platforms that celebrate creativity, talent, and passion.
“Whether it’s through music, fashion, dance, or storytelling, we are here to uplift and support young people as they showcase their unique identities,” she added.
She encouraged students and the public to attend the event for an unforgettable experience, revealing that Coca-Cola will have an interactive experience zone where attendees can engage with the brand in exciting ways.
“The Coca-Cola experience zones at the event will be interactive and immersive, giving attendees a chance to engage with the brand in fun and exciting ways.”
MUBS Guild President Moses Amanya expressed gratitude to Coca-Cola for sponsoring the event, acknowledging their role in making the cultural gala more vibrant.
Amanya also emphasized that the event’s theme aligns with Uganda’s cultural heritage and encouraged students to take pride in their roots by actively participating in the activities.
“You know each and everyone has where we come from, and where we come from is determined by our cultural background. Culture is not something you decide by yourself but it’s God-given,” he said.
He urged students to fully engage in the various activities , emphasizing the importance of showcasing their cultural identity.
The MUBS guild president said the gala will showcase a variety of cultural performances in terms drama, music, and traditional dances, alongside an award ceremony recognizing outstanding students in different cultural showcases.
