Former Deputy Resident City Commissioner for Rubaga Division, Herbert Anderson Burora has formed a group named the National Resistance Movement in Resistance ( NRM-IR) as a break way from the ruling party.
The breakaway group according to Burora, is meant to fight corruption within the NRM.
He noted that NRM doesn’t tolerate corruption and that his group will resist corrupt leaders, impunity , abuse of office .
“Our children can’t continue to fail to attend school because of lack of infrastructure , because of lack of finances to fund academics and leaders are sharing money met to fund their education. We can’t fail to have a proper infrastructure because leaders are investing in their own hospitals and schools yet other facilities are redundant. Today we come up to say no to corruption,”Burora told journalists on Thursday.
He asked fellow NRM members and other well-wishers to join the fight against corruption.
Describing it as a trajectory, Burora said they will not allow the ruling NRM party be “drowned by a few people into the dungeons of shame, at our watch.”
“Many young people cannot join the party, because of corruption, impunity and abuse of office. It is from this day that we choose to resist the corrupt, impunity and abuse of power.”
He said from now on, Parliament will be a “crime scene”
Burora tasked the IGG, Beti Kamya to resign for failure to tackle corruption.
He said their protests won’t be carried out on streets but will target homes ,funerals and churches where corrupt leaders, especially MPs pray from.
Burora also warned religious leaders against double standards, asking them to stand firm against corrupt officials.
