Eight members of Saxo Flames Band have been successfully rescued after a boat they were cruising on capsized on Lake Victoria on Sunday night.
Police spokesperson, Kituuma Rusoke told journalists on Monday the water accident happened at around 9pm on Sunday when a boat the band members were traveling on collided with another near Ggaba Beach House.
The band members were returning from a performance at Divine beach in Mukono district when their boat was knocked by another that was turning and after knocking the band members’ boat, the other one took off.
Its captain would later dock it at Ggaba beach house and later take off.
Meanwhile, people at the beach house heard cries for help from the waters and together with police rushed and were able to rescue the eight band members including Josh Muwanguzi, Jill Mukwayaa, Davi Matovu, Dennis Ntambi, Derrick Maganda, Manitoba and Sharon Mujuzi.
Kituuma Rusoke however said one Emma Wangada is still missing and that efforts to trace for his whereabouts are still ongoing.
The accident happened six months following the capsizing of MV Templar, a a cruise boat which was carrying party revelers to a beach in Lake Victoria.
At least 30 people, including the cruise boat owner, Templar Bisase died during the tragedy .
