The Electoral Commission has set Thursday, March, 21, 2024 as the date for the Dokolo County woman MP by-election.
The seat fell vacant last month following the death of the area woman MP Cecilia Barbara Atim Ogwal on January,18, 2024.
According to the program released on Monday by the Electoral Commission, the update of the voters register will be done starting today, February 12 until February 15 in each of the 71 parishes and wards in Dokolo District.
“The commission has appointed Thursday February, 15, 2024 as the cut-off date for applying for registration as a voter and for transfer of voting location in the district. The registration and transfer of voters from one polling station to another within Dokolo District will not take place after that date,” a notice by the Electoral Commission reads in part.
It says that the display of the voters’ register will be done for 10 days between February 21 and March 1, 2024 at the 173 polling stations in the district.
The display of the parish tribunal recommendations for deletion from/or inclusion on the register will be conducted for six days between March 1 and 6 at the respective parish and ward headquarters.
“The nomination of candidates will be conducted on March 11 and 12 at the Office of the district returning officer, Dokolo and the successfully nominated candidates will conduct campaign meetings for seven days between March, 13 and 19, 2024.”
Later on March, 21, the district will go into polls to elect the replacement for the deceased Cecilia Ogwal.
