The top management of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has created the Investment Crimes Prosecution Unit as a specialized unit at the head office to manage and prosecute cases investigated by the State House Investment Unit, the State House Anti–Corruption Unit and the State House Health Monitoring Unit.
According to a statement by the Office of the DPP, the new unit will now be headed by Jonathan Muwaganya, a Chief State Attorney who has been moved from the Kampala regional office.
In the same manner, the Office of the DPP has moved the Masindi regional office to Hoima as Hoima Regional Office, to ease accessibility by stakeholders in the region.
Hoima region comprises Hoima, Masindi, Kibaale, Kiryandongo, and Buliisa.
Furthermore, a new Resident State Attorney office has been created in Kyankwanzi to enhance access to criminal justice services by stakeholders there.
President Museveni last year created a new unit named the State House Investor Protection Unit charged with the duty of arresting and prosecuting people who sabotage investment .
He appointed Col Edith Nakalema as its head.
