The management of popular hangout place, Club Guvnor has announced the end of its Saturday nightlife.
“Guvnor Uganda informs its patrons that owing to a sharp drop in business, we are ceasing Saturday night operations starting June 2024,” the club announced in a notice to members of the public on Friday.
The club however said they will remain available for hire on Saturdays for private parties, events, concerts, product launches and presentations.
Guvnor said they are also still available for hire on other days of the week except on Fridays.
On Fridays, the club says it is officially open for the Friday night live with Afrigo Band for every last Friday of the month, oldies night on every first Friday of the month and Guvnor Friday
“We thank you and truly appreciate your support through the years.”
Opened in 2010, Club Guvnor is owned by Kampala businessman and former rally ace, Charles Lubega.
In the past, a number of popular hangout places in Kampala including Ange Noir, Club Silk, Rouge, T1, Club Amnesia and Club Rouge among others have closed nightlife business.
This trend of closure has partly been attributed to the growth of the customers of these clubs, many of whom are no longer interested in nightlife.
