The President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, has extended warm birthday wishes to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who turned 80 on September 15, 2024.
The message was delivered by Uganda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary, Vincent Waiswa Bagiire.
In his letter, Xi praised Museveni’s leadership, highlighting the progress Uganda has made over the past year. “Under your strong leadership, Uganda has achieved new milestones in national development,” Xi wrote.
He also acknowledged Uganda’s contributions as the rotating chair of both the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and the G77+ China, particularly in promoting South-South cooperation.
“On the occasion of Your Excellency’s birthday, I extend my sincere congratulations and best wishes,” Xi added in the letter dated September 15, 2024.
Xi further emphasized the strong partnership between China and Uganda, describing the two nations as “good friends standing heart to heart” and “solid partners for rejuvenation.”
He expressed appreciation for Uganda’s support during the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), which concluded successfully.
“I attach great importance to China-Uganda relations and look forward to working with you to strengthen exchanges on state governance, enhance development strategies, and promote international fairness and justice. I wish you good health and continued success,” Xi concluded.
