President Museveni has appointed Senior Commission of Police Charles Kataratambi as the new police director in charge of human rights and legal affairs.
The Friday appointments by the president saw Kataratambi replace AIGP Erasmus Twaruhuukwa has been moved to the directorate of research and planning.
By being appointed a director, Kataratambi has returned to the top leadership of the force after being sidelined for almost 10 years since 2015.
He was in 2015 arrested over glaring gaps in investigations into the Kyetume-Katosi road scam among others cases he was handling.
Kataratambi was then the Special Investigations Division commander.
He was then asked to hand over his office and since then, he has not been deployed until the Friday deployment by President Museveni.
Kataratambi, a lawyer by profession, joined the police as a cadet in 2001 and among others served as the Police Flying Squad commander.
