The National unity platform NUP’S head of Mobilization, Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu who is also the elder brother to the party president Robert Kyangulanyi Sentamu has asked his son and Makerere University guild president Churchill James Ssentamu to apologise to the public for posing for a photo with President Museveni.
Ssentamu was on Tuesday captured in a group photo with President Museveni who was at Makerere for the research and innovations week.
The photo has sparked debate on social media.
In a video, Nyanzi described the incident as a betrayal to Ugandans.
“Please you need to come out and apologize to all Ugandans. The man you rubbed shoulders with, in the pictures wanted to kill me (your father) two months ago, his hands are bloodstained, please avoid him, you know well he also tempted to kill your Uncle, Kyagulanyi” Nyanzi said.
The head of mobilization at NUP said that the ruling NRM party strategically ensured the photo moment happens for their own benefit.
“Museveni has always wanted to use the Ssentamu family and get one person to cling on so he now has pictures with you, which won’t helm him at all anyway . I belong to the National Unity platform yes and it’s true you contested as an independent candidate for the Makerere University guildship but you are our son and the world sees a lot in you.”
“If it all has to cause you tough times, please resign and concentrate on your studies, to avoid going into trouble and hurting Ugandans .”
